In the summer of 2000,
I was in Amsterdam for three days and Florence for four
days. We flew into Schiphol in Amsterdam, and took overnight
trains to and from Italy, going through Germany and Switzerland,
and we transferred to a commuter train in Milan.

UUnet ads on the
street trains. From Schiphol Airport you take a train to
the city. They were the first thing I saw as I exited the
train station and set foot in the city.
So many college
students on vacation. Long lines everywhere.
Fluffy trees in
Amsterdam.
The train station
in Milan, which looks like every train station in every
European film you've ever seen, which is a cool thing.
Full of nuns.
